Built between the 12th and 13th centuries, Masseria Galeasi has always been deeply connected to the agricultural life of the area.
The fortified structure and its tower once served as protection against incursions.
Over the centuries, the estate became a vibrant rural center — home to farmers and workers, visited seasonally by craftsmen and merchants, and welcoming to pilgrims and travelers thanks to its Chapel.
Constructed directly on and from local tufa a sedimentary stone formed from ancient marine deposits and still rich in fossilized shells. the Masseria embodies the geology and history of this land.
Today, some architectonics elements remain intact: like the Tower, the Dovecote and the Chapel, furthermore in the Masseria are still visible:
The underground caves, once home to an olive mill
The ancient well and rainwater collection systems
The stone animal enclosures (stazzi)
Every stone tells a story.
